Unsung Gallery is proud to present the paintings of Nina Joki.  Born in Phoenix, she was raised in California, and has returned to her Arizona roots where she now lives with her husband Ryan and dog Tucker.  She grew up watching her Dad paint and would ‘borrow’ his acrylics while he taught her painting techniques.  Nina took basic art classes in high school, and art became a fun escape for her while in college.  Early on she was inspired by Picasso and the great range of his work; as she developed her own style she felt drawn to the bold pop art of Andy Warhol and the painting techniques of Wayne Thiebaud.  She now finds inspiration from Blain Fontana, a modern artist who uses bold and bright layering techniques in his environmentally conscious work.   Joki describes what motivates her to create:  “I try to make ‘pop art’ a bit more decorative and less obvious. I love doing custom paintings and am inspired by my clients’ favorite things.  I love making people smile with my art.”
